Change the grade on an assignment
If the drop down menu on the student submission form appears "greyed out" or in the activity it states "This grade is locked or overridden in the gradebook", it indicates that the grade has been edited in the gradebook view. Editing grades in the gradebook overrides grading in the activity to prevent grades from getting out of sync. In the gradebook view, you will notice that the cells you have entered or edited manually will change to a tan colour.
New in 3.4 - bulk action to change overridden grades
In 3.4 the single view of the activity allows you to select all and remove all of the overridden checkboxes.
You can continue to make future changes in the gradebook itself or if you want to unlock the drop down menu in the activity, you will need to go into each student's grade cell and remove the override flag. Here's how:
- Go to Grades > 'Grader report' view.
- Click 'Turn editing on' (button at top right).
- Click on the 'gear icon' on individual student assignment submission cell. You will be redirected to the 'Edit grade' page for the particular activity.
- Uncheck the 'Overridden' check box.
- Click 'Save changes'.
